Moments from around the house

We've been spending nearly all our time at home, watching movies, coloring pictures, and running in circles. Here are a few random moments from our time at home together.
Eva often yells,"I HOLD YOU?!" at Izzy in hopes to get her all to herself. Of course she is still more interested in TV a few minutes later.

... or suckers.

The sisters like to lay on Eva's bed together for naptime chats.

Snuggles with Daddy after he gets home from work

Another heart to heart session.

Big stretches

Not all moments are as peaceful as this one :).

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wright

Mark and Jill Wright's wedding was our first reason to take a trip down to Springfield to see the Kershaw side of the family. Izzy did so well on her first long car ride! She woke up once on the way down because she was hungry, and she slept the entire way back home. The wedding and the bride were beautiful. I didn't get to see most of the wedding because Evalee was excitedly chatting through the entire beginning and Isabel started fussing a bit, so we watched from behind the glass around the chapel. Eva and Amelia (or as Eva calls her, Mia) played together during the ceremony and I realized that they have never had a chance to play just the two of them. They squealed and ran and gave each other hugs over and over again. We went to the reception early because Daddy was in wedding party pictures, but that worked out nicely because the Hawkins family got to "ooo" and "ahh" over Izzy all by themselves for a little while :). Eva was running on empty as far as sleep goes, but you'd never know from the way she acted. She was ready to DANCE right when the music started playing. Unfortunately, we had to eat, cut the cake, introduce the wedding party, watch the video, etc. before that could happen. But I guess I'll take a happy, energetic toddler over a screaming one.
We stayed and danced for a while, but after a few hours the lights and loud music were started to upset little Isabel and we left for Aunt Molly's house. The next day was spent with the family at Grandma Kershaw's house celebrating an early Thanksgiving. The dinner conversation revolved mostly around bodily functions, but good times were had by all.

Family Pictures

We scheduled our first family pictures for the beginning of November. Outfits were coordinated. Lofty plans of Christmas cards were dreamed up. And as usual, Evalee burst my planning bubble. She refused to sit at all for the pictures, screaming and running and pouting for nearly the entire session. I was not pleased. Luckily we managed to trick her into laugh a few times, enough for a couple decent pictures. Maybe she'll be a more agreeable 3-year-old?

One Month Old

The first month of Isabel's life flew by. I know everyone always says that, but I truly felt that way in this case. I couldn't believe a month had passed when it did.
For the first month of her life, Isabel was such an exceptionally great baby. She started sleeping for 4 hours at night for me - and on a couple occasions 5 - which was a blessing since Evalee began getting up at 5:30 or 6 on a regular basis. She also takes her long afternoon nap at the same time as her sister's, which allows me a couple hours to get laundry, cleaning, and cooking done. She seems to have a sensitive stomach and really only cries when she has gas bubbles in her tummy, which is usually around dinnertime. She loves to cuddle, especially with her daddy and Grandpa. At the end of the month, she weighed just over 10 pounds at the doctor's office, putting her in the 75th percentile for her age group.

My first friend

We finally got the chance to bring a meal over to my friend Becky's family and meet their new little guy, Johnathan. Even though he's about two weeks or so younger than Isabel, they were about the same size. They were both very contented to snuggle together while Becky and I caught up. We've made tentative Orion Prom 2030 plans.

Tummy Time

Because of her herniated umbilical cord, we've been really working on Izzy's tummy time in an attempt to help it work itself out as soon as possible. Luckily she seems to enjoy it, unlike her old sister. Evalee likes tummy time too -- she likes to lay in front of the boppy and say, "Go baby!" when she picks her head up.
