These are the days where memories are made. These are the days I don't want to forget. The good days, the bad days, the mundane days -- I want them all.

I'm a Future Girl Scout
Grandma came and babysat Evalee last week while I went back to work. Daddy tried to dress her in her Girl Scouts onesie, but she had already peed on it before Grandma could get there! He did manage to get some pretty cute pictures first, though!

Look Ma, I can read!
I was SO excited to see Evalee take a liking to books! Travis's friend Pam, who used to work at WQAD before she moved to Pennsylvania, sent us a book that her daughter loved when she was a baby. So, we read it to Eva and she absolutely loved it. The plot is, well, non-existent, but those pictures really make her smile. I have probably logged a good 2 or 3 hours of holding the book and watching her stare at the pictures, so I have taken to making up a storyline to the book myself. It's much more interesting, but probably not a conventional one you might find in a baby's book.
I hope this trend continues, because if it's books she loves I definitely have a few up my sleeve (and so does Grandma!)

First Big Car Trip and Learning to Play
This week, Ea has started to show some interest in her toys. We have been laying her on her playmat when she's alert and in a good mood (which doesn't happen every day haha) and she really loves to stare at and kick her legs at the toys we have dangling for her. She has even started to smile and babble a little bit. Her colic has been acting up less and less, but when it does it's still quite the challenge to stay on top of it. We discovered on Wednesday that the sound of running water (the loud bathtub works best) works as a great substitute for "shh"ing when we are trying to calm her down, and that has made that process slightly less tiring. I just finished reading the book The Happiest Baby on the Block, which gave me a lot of insight into colic and ways to remedy it. I feel like it has helped SO much; I am going to lend it to anyone that is expecting a child. Ever. We are already almost halfway to that glorious 3 month mark, where colic is almost always gone. Week 6 (this upcoming week) is supposedly the peak for colic, so if we can get through just one more week it should start getting easier and eaiser each week.
We visited the suburbs this weekend for mommy's best friend Katie's wedding shower and it was Eva's first experience with a long car trip. The trip there went really well -- we only had to stop once for a new diaper and to nurse. The trip back was a little more stressful. We were all definitely ready to be home when we pulled into the driveway.

One Month Old
It's so hard to believe she is already a month old! She weighs 8.9 lbs (her weights will be recorded in tenths of pounds now that we are using the official FAIRBANKS scale from Grandpa :). We are slowly but surely getting to know her and what she likes and dislikes, and watching her develop more and more each day has been a true joy.
Happy naked (at least almost) mornings
Baptism day
Last Sunday, Evalee was baptized at our church. The whole Kershaw clan came up and over to see it AND friends from NIU came as well. The church secretary said it was the most visitors we have ever had for a baptism, which made it all the more clear how loved our little girl really is! :) She was a sleeping angel through the entire service, and even slept for a while being passed around at the luncheon afterwards where she met almost all of her great aunts and uncles and second cousins on Grandma Adams's side of the family.
